Welcome to the latest edition of Dice’s Equality in Tech Report.
This report attempts to analyze the state of racial and gender equality in the tech industry and the organizations that constitute it. This year’s edition is an aggregation of several fact sheets devoted to diversity, equality, inclusion and belonging (DEIB), covering vital areas including the current state of discrimination in tech, the best ways to be an ally in tech and why current DEIB efforts could be falling short.
The bottom line is that, despite an enormous amount of time and resources devoted to improving DEIB within tech, many tech professionals feel that racial and gender discrimination remain major problems. In fact, our data found that more respondents reported experiencing discrimination than in previous years. But this isn’t time to lose hope: By properly acknowledging the challenge — and embracing policies designed to change every facet of an organization’s approach to DEIB — we have a chance to reverse this trend.
As you read through this report, pay attention to our key takeaways about what you can do to improve DEIB, including:
- If you see something, say something.
- Encourage “DEIB infrastructure” within your organization.
- Help foster an environment in which everyone is heard.
With everyone’s help, the tech industry can achieve its DEIB goals, resulting in a better future for all.
